The Men Who Passed The 13th Amendment 1865, Mounted albumen of Lincoln and the 38th Congress, Choice Very Fine. This is a the largest version of this quite large mounted albumen photograph, including the 7" x 8" oval composite portrait on a 13.5" x 17.5" mount depicting those Senators and Representatives of the 38th Congress who voted to enact the 13th Amendment outlawing slavery, with Lincoln shown at bottom, Hannibal Hamlin at the top, and Schuyler Colfax at center. Credit, visible at extreme bottom margin of the photograph reads, "Entered According to Act of Congress in the year 1865 by Powell & Co….New York". Extremely light foxing to mount, photograph is exceptionally dark, rich in tone and extremely clean. Sold together with the printed key numbering and naming all of the portraits depicted, 9.5" x 12" titled "KEY TO POWELL & CO'S PHOTOGRAPHS | ABRAHAM LINCOLN, HANNIBAL HAMLIN, and of the SENATORS and REPRESENTATIVES who voted 'AYE' on the resolution submitting to the Ligatures of the several States a proposition to amend the constitution of the United States so as to prohibit SLAVERY..." Light foxing and toning, chipped at top corner, not affecting text. A wonderful presentation piece and a fine example of a composite photograph. (2 items.)
