10¢ Payment to Cancel the Fine on "Martin Luther"

Providence, RI, Liberty Stock Pay Bearer 10¢ to Cancel Fine on Martin Luther, Very Fine.
This is a political note, dated Sept. 27, 1844. Martin Luther was fined $500 for being a moderator at a town meeting about the "National Question" his case eventually went to the Supreme Court. Printed on onion skin paper with detailed typeset legends. A fascinating item with a 1965 letter explaining Luther as a Democratic radical with support from the central state chairman Danforth. The only one we have ever seen.

Early American will accept payment by check or credit card.
