"They Give Their Lives - Do You Lend Your Savings?" c. 1942, WW II Poster, "They Give Their Lives - Do You Lend Your Savings?," by H. Dewitt Walsh, U.S. Government, Very Good. Striking 30" x 20" Poster by H. Dewitt Walsh. Printed to boost the sale of War Savings Stamps. This poster has a small "W.S.S." (War Savings Stamps) logo is in the lower right. This is one of the few posters that mentioned the death of American soldiers. Most posters were about American victory, strength, and power. However, there were a select few that did play on the emotions of Americans by mentioning the lives lost overseas. A dark image of crosses on a hilltop coupled with the question of how much we have given is a perfect play on sight and emotion. There are some rather large splits both the top and bottom and a 3" chip out of the bottom center outer edge. A unique image. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card.
