Georgia Currency
Rare Georgia 1776 Sterling Denominations Ten Shillings

Georgia. 1776 Sterling Denominations. Ten Shillings. Large Format. Very Fine.
This impressive, large format note measures 3.5" x 5.5" and is printed in both red and black. Other than for some expert conservation at the top and bottom centerfolds, this note is whole and complete with nice overall eye appeal. The red and black printed text and designs are clear and mostly sharp. All five signatures and the serial number are well written in rich brown making them easily readable. The blank reverse is free of any notations or detractions. Nearly all of the outer border designs are fully displayed with nice margins on all sides but for at the lower left corner. There was only one example in the Stack's May 2005 auction of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part X, graded VF, selling for $1,955 at the time. This note is far above average and is very rare in this high quality, the PMG "Population" report records only one note graded VF-20. It would look great on display.
