South Carolina Currency
Full Plate Impression June 1, 1775 Ten Pounds Note South Carolina. June 1, 1775. Ten Pounds. "Hand Holding a Sword" vignette. Very Fine. This is a very unusual and interesting example of this early South Carolina issue. This note has four huge, even margins that provide excellent centering and also show the full original copper plate impression within the paper. Normally, this note would be trimmed right up to the plate impression and this one was left complete and full. It has some sealed centerfold and edge splits, which are quite typical of this large size note. After all, it would have to be quarter folded simply to fit into one's pocket or wallet due to its size. All of the printed text is very well printed and clear. The vignette is sharp and all five signatures are present. This note is vastly superior in quality and appearance to most seen from this issue. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
