Signed "E. Reed" on front. Found near Chillicothe, Ohio. Ernest Popeye Reed (1919-1985) was born in Jackson, Ohio. By 1964, he was selling his carvings by the road side. In 1968, he was able to become a full time artist. In 1980, Reed was featured in Folk Art Encyclopedia of Twentieth Century American Folk Art and Artists. 12" h x 9" w. EST. $500. - $1000.
