Rudyard Kipling (New York) 24" x 17" watercolor titled "Chief High Horse" - Sioux. Signed lower right "Rudyard Kipling & Regards to H. Paul Lewis M.D.". Rudyard Kipling is a direct American descendent of the famous author with the same name. At an early age he showed artistic talent and was accepted into the New York School of Industrial Arts. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army until 1946. Wanting to further his education, he enrolled in the school of Visual Arts in New York City. At the same time, he studied portrait painting for two years under Francis Criss and also studied under John Sloan. He then later gave art lessons in his own studio in New York. Fine condition.
