FINE FEDERAL KENTUCKY CHERRY SILVER PRESS

Circa 1800-1820 with arched crest of flamed cherry veneer. Original finials above two doors with 13-panes of glass in each, above two large drawers with banded inlay, above two small drawers resting on the original turned feet. Cloth lined inside with cherry shelves that are dovetailed in the front. Most of the glass appears to be original. Small areas of veneer loss under drawers and veneer loss to one side of crest, otherwise, fine original condition. Descended through family from Nicholasville (Jessamine County), Kentucky. A very similar press with blind doors was found in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky a few years ago. A wonderful piece of Kentucky furniture that was well executed by a fine craftsman and is worthy of any book on Kentucky furniture. 90" h x 43" w x 20 1/2" d. EST. $10,000. - $20,000.
