A well-made cabinet card identified on the verso as that of Lt. John R. Rudd, Co. A, 9th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Camp Meade, Pennsylvania. The 9th Ohio, which was composed of only four companies, was the only black unit from Ohio to serve during the Spanish-American War. Lightly-foxed, else very good
