Confederate imprint adversity cover with red Due 10, docketed by soldier George Andrew Pickens, 11th North Carolina Infantry, WIA at Wilderness and taken POW at Petersburg on April 2, 1865, with original War-date Autograph Letter Signed, "G.A. Pickens" 2p. octavo, Camp near Rapidan, October 4, 186[3 or 4], which mentions George Bird who died of wounds received at The Wilderness on May 16, 1864, William Bird who was wounded in action at White Hall, North Carolina 12/16/1862 & at Gettysburg on July 1, 1863 where he was also taken prisoner, he was again taken prisoner at Petersburg on April 2, 1865, and John Patton who was wounded in action and taken prisoner on the 1st day of Gettysburg. Fine.
