The 16th Mississippi Buys Checkered Shirts 1861

A nice early war-date partly-printed Confederate requisition invoice, oblong 1p. 4to., Port Gibson, Miss., May 25, 1861 where the "Fair View Rifles"- purchased from Kiefer & Company numerous checkered shirts and pants. The Fairview Rifles helped form the nucleus of the 16th Miss. and nearly two years later, during the battle of Gettysburg, that regiment attacked Meade's Union army while part of Posey's brigade under the command of Gen. A. P. Hill. Fine.
