177th New York Muster Roll with Skirmish Content f

War-date "Muster Roll of Company I of the 177 Regiment of N.Y. Vols From the 28th day of February 1863 to the 30th day of April 1863." Bonnet Carre, Louisiana, April 30, 1863, signed by Captain E.H. Tomlinson and Colonel Ira. W. Ainsworth, listing just under 100 soldiers, including several who died and one "Detailed to take charge of Contrabands." with remarks that reads "orders were received on the 20th of March to hold the men of Co. I readiness in common with the other companies of the 177 Regt. to march with four days cooked rations. On the morning of the 22d the steamboat Louisiana Belle took the Regt aboard and started up the river after leaving detachments at various stations on the river we landed at about 9 oclock PM at Manning Plantation 40 miles from Bonnet Carre where we encamped for the night. Next morning the 23rd we resumed our march to Doyals Plantation 7-1/2 miles...We remained at Doyals till the morning of the 24th and took up our march to Sciveique Ferry on the Amite River about 20 1/2 miles through dense woods and swamps....The Expedition arrived there at about 9 oclock at night and were ordered to rest upon their arms at about 12 PM the enemy directed his fire towards the camping grounds. General Nickerson who commanded the Expedition attended to the replying to the Enemy's fire in person. The firing lasted about 3/4 of an hour when the enemy retired. Next morning the 26th we resumed our march. We marched about 13 miles and rested on the 27th we returned to Doyals Plantation where we rested till the 30th and returned by the steamboat Fox to Bonnet Carre where we arrived at 10 oclock PM..." Fine.
