Lincoln assassination letter, Versailles Darke, Ohio, April 19, 1865, 2 ˝ pgs., fine. Nice content letter written 4 days after President Lincoln's death. From Louis Spiece to her brother Abram. Reads in part: "Brother Abram, there is a good many mourning over old Abe in this town today and some of our ladies are dressed in black walking the streets….We got a dispatch this morning that none of the railroad hands should not work today on account of Abe's death". A nice content Lincoln mourning letter.
