INCLUDES: (A) Three varied typed and handwritten 8 x 10 letters with fancy printed letterheads "ASSOCIATION FOR THE PROTECTION OF JEWISH IMMIGRANTS…PHLA" 1908-9 dated, to Louis Levy, president of association and one to "JEWISH COLONIZATION ASSOCIATION, St. Petersburg, Russia." About various immigrant Jewish matters. (B) "JEWISH COLONIZATION ASS'N / COMITE CENTRAL, St. Petersburg 1908 to Levy also. Typed letter with orig. signature and penned notation about a Russian arrived in Phila., but left wife and child in Russia and never heard from again. (C) "JEWISH IMMIGRANTS' INFORMATION BUREAU" letterhead, Galveston, Texas, Aug. 3, 1910 to Mayer Sulzberger Phila. about deportation matters; orig. signature. (D) "RESOLUTIONS AND PROTESTS ADOPTED" heading on five (8 ˝ x 11) printed broadsides of two B'Nai Brith lodges; Phila. 1907 about matters pending before congress and their rejection of literacy tests and hardships of their steerage passage to America; also protest to Congress (signatures of lodge officers). (E) Letterhead "SOCIETE POUR LA PROTECTION DES IMMIGRANTS" French letterhead 1909 from France to Louis Levy, Phila. about Jewish immigrant woman on way to Phila. (typed letter in English) asking him to arrange for her arrival. Orig. signature. (F) Seven varied printed pamphlets (prox. 5 x 9 ˝ each) includes "A MORNING AT ELLIS ISLAND…A DISCOURSE BY RABBI JOS. KRAUSKOPF, PHILA. NOV. 24, 1907." 12 pages; paper covers; mint condition; "ANNUAL REPORT ASSOCIATION… PROTECTION OF JEWISH IMMIGRANTS FOR YEAR ENDING APRIL 1916" pub. Phila. 1916. (8 pages) about mint. "THE PRESS OF IMMIGRATION…dangerous when unchecked will prove a blessing to the land." pub. by Liberal Immigration League, N.Y. 1909; 8 pages; mint condition; "TERMINATION OF TREATY BETWEEN U.S. AND RUSSIA" Committee on Foreign Affairs Feb. 16, 1911 64 pages; exc.+ lengthy statement by LEWIS MARSHALL of NY and other congressmen;… "THE JEWS OF ROUMANIA; hearings before committee on foreign affairs; House of Reps 1914; 39 pages; exc. (G) Handsome, fancy illustrated, color broadside printed as souvenir for new immigrants. In Yiddish. 9 x 12 Jewish star upper corners; Statue of Liberty in center surrounded with designs of train and factory bldgs.; at bottom large passenger steamship entering harbor (type of very early 1900's) another in background and square rig sailing ship in distance. Large anchors at lower corners filled with Hebrew writing. About mint condition; few short margin tears. Very decorative. (H) "Jew and Non-Jew" by Rabbi Martin Meyer, Cincinnati, pub. by Central Conference Amer. Rabbis. 1913. "About Attitudes" 20 pages. Exc.
