Anti-Federalist Circular
"The Numberless Acts Of Inconsistency, Absurdity, And Wickedness"

February 14, 1810, Anti-Federalist Circular, Taunton, MA, Very Fine.
Document Printed, Signed in brown ink by "Jones Godfrey" on fine-laid paper, 12.75" x 8". Folded letter, addressed to "Brig. Gen. Thomas Lincoln," no postal markings, small remnant of wax seal. Light brown-toned page. Minor edge splits, partially repaired with tape, and a few small holes. Excellent content announcing a Republican Convention to be held at Taunton, at the house of Capt. John Shaw, and denouncing the Federalists. This "broadside letter" reads, in part: "...the critical and perilous situation of our nation, and its excellent government; ... insolence which the nation has experienced from abroad, and the government from a restless faction at home... The present circumstances... demand the attention of all Friends to Government... Every measure which the federal party have adopted for the oppression of the people... has... been converted into a gallows for their own popularity and influence... the numberless acts of inconsistency, absurdity, and wickedness which the opposers of our general government have practiced..." Many more great historical perspectives in this interesting document.
