Political
1824 Correspondence of John Adams & Wm. Cunningham

1824 Printed Publication, "A Review of the Correspondence of the Hon. John Adams - Late President of the United States & William Cunningham, Esq. Beginning in 1802 and Ending In 1812" By Timothy Pickering. 2nd Edition, Salem (MA), 1824, Very Fine.
This original, 1824 Printed Publication measures 8" x 5" and contains 140 pages. Pickering was a longtime political enemy of John Adams, and used this book to respond to an earlier publication of letters between Adams and his relative, William Cunningham. In that correspondence, Adams expresses his bitter feelings about various political events and personalities, including Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, and American relations with France. Pickering describes Adams' letters as a "tissue of misrepresentations, perverse constructions, and unfounded assertions," and seeks here to set the record straight, as he sees it. This book is still well bound, the spine is intact, though both covers are missing. Aside from some light soiling and foxing on the front and back pages, this book is in excellent condition, with little or no foxing inside. This book is complete and intact, with no tears or holes noted. A great firsthand example of the political rivalries of the early days of the United States.
