"One Hemisphere One Country" Civil War Cover Advocating American Rule Of North And South America

Civil War Peace Cover, Showing Flags and Globe and list of American Wars, with map suggesting America will rule North and South America, Mailed from Orwigsburgh, PA to Boston, MA, Very Fine.
This beautiful and historically significant Civil War Cover, measuring 3" x 5.25," has a large blue vignette in the left end of a globe, showing North and South America, draped with two American flags. Above the globe is a heraldic eagle holding a ribbon inscribed with the names and dates of American wars: "Independence 1776 - Great Britain 1812 - Mexico 1846 - Secession 1861 - Peace." The globe has an inscription running along the edge of the two continents reading: "One Hemisphere One Country," apparently suggesting that the United States would one day encompass all of North and South America. A large, black, circular cancellation partially covers the globe and a smaller grid cancel ties the stamp to the envelope. This cover is addressed to David Pulsifer, Secretary of State's Office, Boston. The front of this cover is in excellent condition, with bold postal markings. The back is missing a piece along the left end, which does not affect the front of the cover. This is a great piece of American Political History, referring to the concept of "Manifest Destiny."
