As the 25th Governor of Ohio, Tod gained recognition for his forceful and energetic leadership during the American Civil War.Partly-printed Document Signed, "David Tod" as Governor of Ohio, 1p. 12-1/2"x10-1/2", August 11, 1863, Columbus, Ohio, being an appointment for A.B. Hartman as "Assistant Surgeon in the Eleventh Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry." VG.The 11th Ohio was hard fought at Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge, Tennessee.
