Issued March 11, 1932 by Col. H. Norman Schwarzkopf of the New Jersey State Police and sent to a North Carolina law enforcement department. Fine.^tThe kidnapping of Charles Augustus Lindbergh, Jr., the toddler son of world famous aviator Charles Lindbergh and Anne Morrow Lindbergh, occurred when he was abducted and murdered in 1932. The kidnapping and subsequent trial were among the biggest news stories of the day. Every development was followed by millions of people. Newspaper writer H.L. Mencken called the affair "the biggest story since the Resurrection." Bruno Hauptmann was convicted of the crime and executed by electric chair, though he proclaimed his innocence.^t
