Among the techniques are: mouth to mouth and nose to mouth breathing; insertion of a breathing tube via laryngeal cut; administering pure oxygen; exposure to tobacco fumes, ammonium hydroxide or camphor; stimulation of the chest. Bernt headed the University of Vienna's department of forensic medicine, the first such program in the world.
