(4to) 9½x6, period purple morocco-backed marbled boards with leather gilt-lettered spine labelsThis beautifully illustrated and rare volume on the history, description and culture of the rarest plants, was written by the 19th Century French botanist Lemaire, who was editor in chief for a few botanical publications including l'Horticulteur Universel, contributing his own writings to this publication and others. He is especially known for his writings on cactaceae.
