Colonial Notes Printed by B. Franklin
Impressive 1759 Delaware Note By Benjamin Franklin Delaware. June 1, 1759. Twenty Shillings. "Printed by B. FRANKLIN" Issue. Choice About Extremely Fine. Fr. DE-68. This note is an exceptional quality example for any Delaware colonial issue that was "Printed by B. FRANKLIN." The originality and fresh, boldly printed appearance of the paper and printed text and designs are impressive. Three signatures are clearly written in brown ink. All of the designs and text are on the paper, which is remarkably clean and solid, being far above average for this early issue. There is some trivial, virtually invisible reinforcement to the centerfold seen only on the reverse under magnification. The various "Nature Print" leaf devices and British Lion vignette on the reverse are bold and sharp in detail. Every letter of the text is well printed and sharp. One of the nicest examples of this popular Benjamin Franklin printed issue one would hope to encounter. A quite similar quality example that was sold in the January 2005, Stack's, Ford-Boyd Collection, Lot 1447, sold for $5,175. Overall, this is an excellent quality, solid note that is perfect for display. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
