Rhode Island Currency
Extremely Rare Rhode Island January 15, 1776 Note Colony of Rhode Island. January 15, 1776 Act. Three Shillings. PASS-CO graded Very Fine-35. Fr. RI-222. Only 7,500 Three Shillings notes were authorized to be printed in the January 15, 1776 Act and were to be redeemed back into the Treasury by January 1781, and destroyed. This outstanding high quality, circulated note is far above average for this issue, which is rarely seen above Good to Very Good in quality. It has a very clean and pleasing appearance, with rich black printed text and designs within virtually full and complete margins. The blank reverse is clean and free from any detractions. The holder notes some light conservation and a restored centerfold, which was splitting at its outer edges. The two signatures are very clear and well written in brown and red ink. Low Serial number 656. According the current PMG "Population" report, to date, they have not yet graded any Three Shillings note of this issue. An impressive and important Rhode Island rarity which is certainly among the Finest Known. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
