Five Cents "Lord & Taylor" "Romaine" Encased Postage

EP-84, HB-170, S-123, Five Cents, LORD & TAYLOR, New York, Romaine Reproduction, Extremely Fine.
According to Fred Reed, this piece having the diagnostics as a Romaine Reproduction. The stamp is a deep reddish-brown in color and hear perfectly centered with am internal horizontal crease running across the top of Jefferson's head, from rim to rim edge. The mica is clear and unbroken with some light hairlines from circulation. The case is a natural medium golden-brown in color. Though there are traces of old hinge or mounting residue on the obverse moons, along with some very faint hairline scrapes. Overall, a very collectable example of this important "Lord & Taylor" merchant rarity.
