Encased Postage Stamps
Popular Nine Cents "Feuchtwanger" Strip Encased Postage EP-95a, Nine Cents, Strip of Three 3¢ Stamps, "FEUCHTWANGER" Eagle Design on Rectangular Copper Case, Choice Extremely Fine or better. This is a most pleasing example of this uniquely designed, later produced and issued "Feuchtwanger" Encased Postage. There are three 1863 issued 3¢ postage stamps that are a nice red and are displayed under a rectangular piece of mica that remains whole, unbroken with some scattered natural internal lamination crazing present. The glossy, light chestnut case is extremely sharp with perfectly clear details and has virtually no trace of actual wear. The last example we sold was in our EAHA Auction, June 10, 2007, Lot 5273, graded EF and selling for $650. A lovely, collectable example of this unique Nine Cents "Feuchtwanger" Strip. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
