Bold Williamsport Proof

Williamsport, The Washington County Bank, $5, India Paper Proof on Card, Choice.
Haxby MD-325 G12. PRF-R6. This is a very rare bank on Maryland. Most of the known notes are proofs from this well designed series by Charles Toppan & Co. Industry is seated at the top center, eagle left and Washington at the right. A lovely late 1830's proof from one of the finest banknote artisans of the period. A sharp looking example that appears to be from the 1990 ABN Sale. A choice proof with only a tiny patch of foxing at the upper left.
