Obsolete Currency
Washington, PA, The Bank of Washington, $10, Very Fine, Cut Cancels. Haxby PA-690 G20a. A well engraved and riveting George Washinton vignette engraved by Murray, Draper & Fairman. Fully issued and dated 1815 immediately after the patriotic fervor after the War of 1812. The scene appears to be Washington, with sword, perhaps retiring to Mount Vernon before his call to the Presidency. We have seen the vignette only on this note type, obviously engraved for the bank as a custom order. A splendid obsolete note type and superior example of paper Washingtonia. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
