Rare Alexander V. Humboldt Exploration Medal

c. 1800 (undated). Alexander V. Humboldt Medal. Struck in Bronze. About Uncirculated
62mm diameter. (9mm thick). Central portrait of Alexander Von Humboldt, explorer of the Amazon River, naturalist, lecturer and author. The obverse bears likeness and the date Sept. 14, 1769 which is his date of birth. The reverse shows him seated and being bombarded by knowledge. The bust bears the initials H.B. below in the field G. LOOS Dir. the reverse is marked H. BUBERT FEC. Very faint friction with one small rim edge bump at the top reverse and a natural medium brown in color. Rare.
