Rarely Seen Signature of "Marq de Casa-Calvo" MARUQES DE CASA-CALVO. February 7, 1813, Partially-Printed Invitation Signed, "Marq de Casa-Calvo," written in brown ink, on quality laid paper, 8" x 6", Choice Very Fine. This invitation includes hand written inserts such as the date and time of the event. There are two typical light mailing folds with a small, one-half inch tear at the upper left corner and a small hole near the right lower edge, both on the back side. Maruqes De Casa-Calvo was born in Havana on August 11, 1751 and joined the Company of Nobles as a cadet in April 1, 1763. In the regular army, he rose to the position of Colonel by 1802 and participated in the reconquest of Louisiana by Spain in 1769. He was sent, by the Captain General of Cuba to take military command of Louisiana, which he did on September 18, 1799. He helped Juan Manuel de Salcedo deliver Louisiana to the French on April 10, 1803 but remained in New Orleans after the American flag was raised.
