Choice Quality Andrew Jackson Letter Signed in third Person "The President" ANDREW JACKSON, 7th President of the United States. Autograph Letter entirely written by Andrew Jackson, in Third Person as "The President"! Written in brown ink on fine-laid paper, dated January 18, 1833, but unsigned, Washington City, 10" x 7.5", Choice Very Fine. Jackson utilizes a third person voice in addressing a matter to General J. McColla, Marshall for the District of Kentucky, in full: "The President with his respects, to Genl. McColla, Marshall of KY. and, not having the pleasure of seeing him as he expected before he left the city, asks the Genl. to have the goodness to forward the enclosed to Gov. Brushett, with the care a proclamation he was good enough to take charge of for him. January 18th 1833." Usual folds, minor dampstaining and a few edge splits do not affect the bold, clear penmanship. Very rarely is the public given a glimpse of personal correspondence from the President of the United States. The special nature of such an item is amplified immeasurably when the material in question is penned entirely in the hand of the White House's Presidential occupant.
