Impressive Martin Van Buren Signed Ship's Passport

MARTIN VAN BUREN, Eighth President of the United States.
September 8, 1840, Partially Printed Vellum Document Signed, "M Van Buren," as President, in brown ink, Washington, DC, Choice Extremely Fine. This is an impressive, 1 page, 15" x 11.25" parchment document, being a scalloped-top Ship's Passport issued to the "Barque Bruce of Fairhaven Silas," a vessel of "147 and 70/95 tons" with a crew of 21 men. The signature has some minor ink-smudges but overall it is bold and legible. The passport is co-signed by Secretary of State, "John Forsyth". This lovely document has typical folds, impressive engravings at top, and a large, full official seal intact at the lower left. This scarce item is overall very impressive in appearance.
