American Revolution
Revolutionary War New Hampshire Military Pay Document March 1, 1782, New Hampton, New Hampshire, Revolutionary War Manuscript Document, Soldier's Pay Order, Much Rarer than similar Connecticut Documents, Choice Fine. In this entirely handwritten document, measuring 6.26" x 7.75," Robert Simpson, a sergeant in Captain Jacob Smith's company of New Hampshire Militia, has directed State Treasurer Gilman to pay what was due him for service, to the Constable of New Hampton, NH. Simpson has signed the front of the document. On the back there is another document, dated April 28, 1785, in which Ebenezer Ingalls, who was constable at New Hampton in 1782, has directed Treasurer Gilman to pay this amount to Ebenezer Smith, and has signed the document. The final notation is dated September 6, 1785 and signed by Ebenezer Smith (who may have been a Colonel), who finally received the money -- 10 pounds and 8 pence. This document is in nice condition, without holes or tears, and evenly toned. Constable Ingalls' writing on the back is somewhat light, but was originally written that way. The edges are irregular and a tiny bit is missing from the right end. Overall this Revolutionary War Document is attractive and a desirable piece of New Hampshire History. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
