1789, George Washington Inaugural Button, "March The Fourth 1789" Eagle and Sun, Albert WI-1A, About Extremely Fine.
Rarity-3; 34 mm; Yellow Brass. This is the pointed tail 9 variety of this Washington Inaugural Button. This button is in overall nice condition, though some of the lettering in the lower right is not readable, and the original shank is intact on the back. A brass example of this button in choice condition sold in the Stack's January 21, 2003 sale for $9,500 (hammer price). An Extremely Fine example sold in the Heritage sale of November 2004 for $3,680.
