War of 1812
President Madison's "War of 1812" Report to Congress (JAMES MADISON). September 24, 1814, Printed Broadside, President Madison's Message to Congress, Concerning the Course of the War with England, Signed in Print, "James Madison," 18" x 6.5," Fine. This long narrow broadside is an "Extra" edition of the Albany Argus, which the newspaper introduces with the note, "By the Steam Boat Fulton, we have received the Mercantile Advertiser Extra of yesterday containing the President's Message, which we hasten to lay before our readers." The text of the message is a report on the progress of the war, and mentions several American officers by name, including Major General Andrew Jackson, Generals Brown, Scott and Gaines, Captain McDonough, and Captains Porter, Warrington and Blakeley. This rare broadside is heavily age toned, though completely readable, with a few heavy creases. A great contemporary view of the War of 1812. Very Rare. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
