"Rally Round the Flag Standard Boys" and other Civil War Lyric Sheets 1860s, Assorted Civil War Lyric Sheets, Lot of 11, Fine-Very Fine. This intriguing set of lyric sheets include Civil War military standards, derivative Minstrel songs, and a large musical sheet encouraging British subjects to come to America. Most have simple printed text in columns, but a few have engraved images, and two are handcolored. All are age-toned, some with stains and edge chipping, but overall fine to very fine. This wide assortment is perfect for the Civil War collector or popular culture enthusiast, as the songs reflect the variety of concerns from both soldiers and the public. Titles include: "Joe Buggins's Wedding," and "Back and the Belly," both published by J. Wrigley, NY, with exceptional handcolored images; "Song for the Thirteenth Reg't Mass. Vols.", by Byron DeWolfe, South Framingham, MA, 1869; "Hark! The Summons", and "Southern Sentiments," pro-Southern songs, published in Baltimore, MD, 1861; "When This Cruel War is Over," and "That Southern Wagon," both sold by Horace Partridge, Boston, MA; "Rally Round the Standard Boys," "To the West! To the West! To the Land of the Free!", from an 1845 musical by Henry Russell, and words by Charles MacKay, Published by London Musical Bouquet Office, a beautifully engraved song sheet with music that inspired a great exodus from England to the U.S. (11 items) Henry Russell (1812-1900) was a popular baritone singer, composer, and pianist.
