Civil War Union Documents
1861 Civil War Broadside of "The Star Spangled Banner"

Broadside Song Sheet: "The Star-Spangled Banner"; Printed at "Brown High School - April 24th, 1861," Very Fine.
This is an original, rare and very attractive, Civil War Era Broadside Song Sheet that is in excellent condition. It measures 6.75" x 4" and is simply printed on a delicate paper stock surrounded by a very attractive printer's border. This wonderful anthem was sung at a Patriotic Flag-raising held at Newburyport just 12 days after the first shots of the Civil War were fired at Fort Sumter. We are unsure of the exact occasion of this Flag-raising event but it was likely a show of patriotism by the residents of Newburyport, where speeches were made and bands played at this public event.
