Civil War Caricature of the Capture of Jeff Davis

Civil War Lithograph: "JEFF'S LAST SKEDADDLE," by T. Welcher, Very Fine.
14" x 20" uncolored print, signed in the plate by "T. Welcher," no date or location. Subtitled: "OFF TO THE LAST DITCH. Now Jeff In His Extremity Put His Navel Affairs and Ram Parts Under Petticoat Protection." Union cavalrymen ride in pursuit of dress-wearing Jefferson Davis, who carries a bucket, while a woman--perhaps his wife--clad in undergarments, admonishes the soldiers: "Please Gentlemen don't disturb the Privacy of Ladies before they have time to dress." Marginal toning, fold to top left corner, but the sheet is clean and clear. A fantastic political caricature!

Early American will accept payment by check or credit card.
