"The Great Eastern"--the Ship Which Laid the Atlantic Cable c. 1858, Print "The Great Eastern," The first Ironclad steamboat built for the London-New York service; Used to lay the Atlantic Cable, 19" x 22", Colored, Choice Extremely Fine. Published by Samuel D. Brain, New York. Three views of the steamboat are given: a side view, a longitudinal section, showing the interior, and a plan designating the various areas of the steamboat. The explanation gives many details about the vessel designed by I.K. Brunel. It was the largest steamship of its time. Laid down and lightly toned with small fold splits at lower edge; light folds, likely from a book. A wonderful print for display. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card.
