Authentic "Washington & Lafayette" Liverpool Pitcher "First in War, First in Peace, and First In The Hearts of His Fellow Citizens" c. 1824, "Washington & Lafayette," Commemorative Historical Liverpool Creamware Pitcher, Choice About New. This wonderful, high quality authentic original Liverpool Pitcher measures 7" x 5.5" and remains in completely original condition, having some light wear on the sides of the handle. Otherwise, this fabulously designed piece remains in virtual Mint condition. Above the transfer portrait of George Washington, on the top rim, reads the historic legend: "First in War, First in Peace, and First In The Hearts of His Fellow Citizens". Opposite is a portrait of Lafayette with a legend reading: "In Commemoration, of The Visit, Of, Gen, L LaFayette, To The U,S, Of America, In The Year 1824". Surrounding his bust portrait the words "FAYETTE" & "THE NATIONS GUEST". These legends clearly state both the time period dating and intent of manufacture of this decorative historic Pitcher. In addition, a third impressive transfer image located below the spout displays a large Heraldic American Eagle, the word "REPUBLICANS" above, the legend "Are Not Always Ungrateful" below.
