Rare 1893 Worlds Fair Silk Ribbon "Banner of Columbus"

1893, World's Columbian Exposition, Silk Ribbon, "The Banner of the Enterprise Carried at the Landing of Columbus," Large Size, from the Eglit Collection, Choice Near Mint.
This extremely rare, large and very colorful silk ribbon is in red, blue, black and gold on white, measuring 13.75" x 2.5," was made by the Phoenix Silk Mill Co. of Patterson, NJ, and has a woven design, not printed. It is in excellent, original condition. This ribbon is listed in the Rossen & Kaduck catalog of Columbian Worlds Fair souvenirs on page 56 (except this has blue tassel instead of red), and was priced 30 years ago at $100. Later, this ribbon's pedigree extends as being offered as part of the famous Nathan Eglit Collection and was sold for $192 in the Presidential Coin & Antique Co. auction of his collection in June of 1992. Now, over a decade and a half later, this extremely rare ribbon should be worth in excess of our estimate range. A magnificent "Ex: Eglit" find, missing in most collections.
