Historic Americana
Spanish-American War Admiral Dewey & USS Maine Commemorative Clock

Spanish-American War Commemorative Clock with Carved Likeness of Admiral Dewey and Gilt Vignette of Battleship Maine, Choice Near Mint.
This handsome brass clock with roman numerals is housed in a wood and glass case with a gilt vignette of flags, anchors, and a likeness of the Battleship Maine--which blew up in Havana Harbor and became the excuse the U.S. needed to go to war with Spain! The 23" high stained-wood clock cabinet has a 4" high carved bust likeness of handle-bar mustached Admiral George E. Dewey (the "hero" of the Spanish-American War), carved patriotic motifs (cannon, cannonballs and flags), and Navy icons (anchors and stars along the bottom). The glass case opens to reveal the original winding key, a pendulum, and the slightly worn brass clock face.

Early American will accept payment by check or credit card.
