1673, Original Map of Brazil with Natives Vignette, Choice Very Fine. This uncolored map of Brazil measures 12.25" x 14.75" and has a large and detailed vignette near the bottom left corner featuring the "Common People of Paraguay". The cartouche portrays six natives, possibly warriors, and a young boy holding a bird. There are several animals pictured, two on top of the signage and another worn on the head of a native. There are two ships engaged in battle and another sailing along peacefully. Near the center, at the top of the map, three angles are holding a banner with bold letters that read: "Notularum Explicatio" across the top. The center fold on the back of the map, is nearly invisible on the face. There is some slight toning and chipping on the center top edge, a tiny chip on the left upper edge and toning along the right edge toward the bottom, none of which affect the map details nor the vignette. Overall, the map would make a nice display. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
