***In his bibliography Cave states that he "spoke with Valerie [Haig-Brown] in mid-1999 regarding the total number of copies sold since publication, and she thought about 75, or half of the number printed... A hindrance to sales has been the almost complete absence of any promotional work on behalf of the Diaries... the only refrence to their publication that [Cave] has found is a brief but informative and finely illustrated article in Steelhead Fly Fishing Journal, volume 1, number 2, 1994, pp. 12-13." .
