***The author began climbing in 1919 with his family in the Swiss Alps. From 1919-1921 he climbed Fionnay and made an ascent of the Matterhorn in 1921. Also includes climbs in the Lake District with Robert Kirby and a record alpine crossing of the Wellenkuppe and Ober Gabelhorn to Zermatt. Each climb or excursion is meticulously recorded..
