[Boreman (Thomas)] A Compendious Account of the whole Art of Breeding, Nursing, and the Right Ordering of the Silk-Worm, first edition, 5 fine folding copper-engraved plates only (of 6), woodcut headpiece and initials, contemporary manuscript correction in ink to p.13 with marginal annotation (slightly cropped), frontispiece with a few small stains, 2 leaves with marginal staining, some light soiling, 2 leaves loose, old grey wrappers, rubbed, slightly frayed at spine, [Not in Goldsmiths'; Kress or Sabin], 4to, for John Worrall...Olive Payne...Thomas Boreman...and Thomas Game, 1733.***James I promoted the development of sericulture in the American colonies to avoid importation duty and this was a serious consideration in the settlement of Georgia. The dedication of this work (signed T.B.) is to "the Trustees for establishing the Colony of Georgia in America". In 1735 Georgia exported eight pounds of silk and in 1759 over a thousand pounds.
