Flown Apollo 13 Beta Cloth Mission Patch
Description
Flown Apollo 13 Beta Cloth Mission Patch
(9x9") carried to the moon by James Lovell. A hand-signed certificate of authentication on the reverse reads: "This Apollo 13 crew patch was flown aboard the command module Odyssey during its perilous journey around the moon on April 11-17, 1970. The patch is silk screened on fireproof Beta cloth, the same material used for the outer layer of the Apollo spacesuit. It is identical to the patches sewn on the crew's spacesuits. 450 patches were vacuum packed and stowed aboard Odyssey as part of the Commander's Personal Preference Kit, and located in pouch part #SEB 321,00025-301 serial number 1016". The mission patch is professionally matted and framed to 10x10". A striking piece of memorabilia that is seldom on the market. A similar mission patch, differently framed, realized almost $2,900 in the October 2000 Superior sale.
