Seven embroidered samplers mainly 1840s, comprising: UK map sampler by Elizabeth Mitchell 1824; miniature alphabet and number test, 10 by 11cm; simple house sampler, a colourful 1953 coronation sampler by Elizabeth Bell; and a burgundy silk cross-stitch floral picture, the largest 41 by 38in; 16 by 15in, (8)
Condition
map sampler has faded and has three moth holes to the wool on the left side, grey discolouration to upper side, dark brown stain in Ireland; Catherine Staley sampler - 1846, faded, aprox 6 holes to the ground; Coronation sampler - good condition; green cross stitch alphabet sampler 1847 good condition; miniature alphabet and roman numeral sampler faint mark along the crease line where it had been folded; house sampler - only piece which is framed good condition; alphabet sampler with honeysuckle lower boder - peppered with moth holes top left corner; cross stitch floral - good condition
