A Chinese embroidered black satin gown, circa 1885, labelled `Me Breant-Castel, 19 Rue du 4 Septembre, Paris, of black silk faille the bodice hem and sleeves edged in black embroidery and beading, the front openings, skirt hem and part of polonaised over-skirt with coloured silk embroidery, bodice fastened by painted brass Chinese buttons, (2)
Condition reportThe bodice is good condition but a large section of the embroidered area of the over-skirt at the back is missing, hemline appears to have been altered. Skirt is fair condition only due to the alterations.
