MID-ATLANTIC LEAD AND MANGANESE GLAZE OVER A SLIP-WASHED EARTHENWARE DOG FIGURE / RATTLE, modeled hollow form in a standing position with open legs, tail curled forward, punched collar, chain, and eyes, carved fur on tail and ears, incised nostrils, mouth, and toes, probably originally attached to a slab base. Probably Pennsylvania, possibly Bell family. Third quarter 19th century. 4 1/2" h, 5" long
