PAIR OF ROBERTSON/ BERNARD / GUEST FAMILY, CAROLINE CO., VA PORTRAITS, oil on canvas, depicting Jane Gay Robertson (Mrs. John H.) Bernard (1794-1852) in a white dress, and her daughter Mary Bernard (Mrs. George) Guest (1824-1895) in a crimson velvet dress, unsigned, in matching period gilt frames. Family tradition indicates that the first portrait is a copy of the Thomas Sully copy of the original 1818 John Vanderlyn portrait. Possibly by Louis Mathieu Didier Guillaume (1816-1892). Third quarter 19th century. 23" x 19" sight, 32" x 28 1/2" overall
